چکیده
– 2 – We analyze the Galactic bulge microlensing event MOA 2003-BLG-37. Although the Einstein timescale is relatively short, t E = 43 days, the lightcurve displays deviations consistent with parallax effects due to the Earth's accelerated motion. We show that the χ 2 surface has four distinct local minima that are induced by the " jerk-parallax " degeneracy, with pairs of solutions having projected Einstein radii, ˜ r E = 1.28 AU and 1.70 AU, respectively. This is the second event displaying such a degeneracy and the first toward the Galactic bulge. For both events, the jerk-parallax formalism accurately describes the offsets between the different solutions, giving hope that when extra solutions exist in future events, they can easily be found. However, the morphologies of the χ 2 surfaces for the two events are quite different, implying that much remains to be understood about this degeneracy.

We analyze the Galactic bulge microlensing event MOA 2003-BLG-37. Although the Einstein timescale is relatively short, tE 1⁄4 43 days, the light curve displays deviations consistent with parallax effects due to the Earth’s accelerated motion. We show that the 2 surface has four distinct local minima that are induced by the ‘‘jerk-parallax’’ degeneracy, with pairs of solutions having projected E...

By extending the constant-acceleration analysis of Smith, Mao, & Paczy´nski to include jerk, I show that microlens parallax measurements are subject to a four-fold discrete degeneracy. The new degeneracy is characterized by a projected velocity˜v j = −(3/4) csc β(cos 2 ψ sin 2 β + sin 2 ψ) 3/2 v ⊕ , where β is the ecliptic latitude , ψ is the phase of the Earth's orbit relative to opposition at...

We analyze the lightcurve of the microlensing event OGLE-2003-BLG175/MOA-2003-BLG-45 and show that it has two properties that, when combined with future high resolution astrometry, could lead to a direct, accurate measurement of the lens mass. First, the lightcurve shows clear signs of distortion due to the Earth’s accelerated motion, which yields a measurement of the projected Einstein radius ...
